The First Journal Reflection of Technology and Language Learning

By: Nur Hasanah
Technology has developed as the time goes on. For example, The progressing of  Web 1.0 developed into Web 2.0. As digital generation, we should adapt with this situation to upgrade our skill and knowledge to sell “our selves”. Few months ago, Flaskdisk was the sophisticated device with the expensive price but it is not sophisticated anymore nowdays. The new softwares have been created for the sake of efficience and ease in our life. We can take a plenty of benefit for teaching and learning process.
Some theories of learning that was attended in the last session, were about Behavioristic Call, Communicative Call and Integrative Call. Behavioristic Call was implemented in 1960s-1970s. This theory of learning emphasize on accuracy. While, Cognitive Call which was implemented in 1980s-1990s emphasize on the fluency. Then, Integrative call has been implemented in 1990s-present. We can see the details in the table bellow:

In my opinion, Integrative Call is very effective as we can get  the material that we want. So, we can focus learning the details of the subject. Nowdays, as scholar i often use internet because most of my lectures give assignment which necessitate me for blogging and surfing on internet.  I joined online learning which emphasize on listening and it is very usefull for expanding my experience hearing the way native speaker talk. Internet is as abandoned resource that has multifuction that ease our life.

Humanistic studies

By : Nur Hasanah
For third semester, I have humanistic class. I think this subject will emphasize on multicultural and religion. These fields relate to the differences in daily life such as majority & minority, gender, ethnics and stereotyping which stick on Indonesians. As Pak Hatim said, the religion issues will be very sensitive. I hope no gap after the class and no offensive statement that will be spoken by others.
My expectations for this subject are we could have fun learning and have flexible area to study (not only in the classroom) and we could attend any issues which have happened in and out of Indonesia. I believe this subject will be very interesting as we have to have strong argument like an “As card” to defeat the opposite statement. Humanistic class trains us to speak up what we are thinking about. Also, it will be hard to guess the right argument as the lecture is kind of poker face, like Lady gaga sings “can’t read mind… can’t read mind…” yes I can’t read his mind. *laugh emot
In my college, multicultural is exist because almost whole of my friends are from different regions. Some of them are Sundanese, Javanese, Bataknese, Sekayunese and etc. Even though, Jakarta natives are only less than half of them. This is the unique point. I can share and learn about my friends’ culture through this class. For me, the differences are not always the odds, it could be interesting. Can u imagine what this world be if the whole citizens are like you? It could be boring, what is in your mind is already in others mind. So, what are you going to talk about? Who is going to talk to you about what you already knew? Thanks god for creating Adam and Eve.
What about religion? Religion is belief in existence of god. As you know, people have their own principles and beliefs about god. Moslem believes in Allah as god, Christian believes in Jesus as god and etc. Can we force the others to believe in our god? Exactly not. There is no coercion to believe in god but do not take your religion and belief for granted, just because your heritage. Thinking and questioning what you have are necessary to avoid lost in stray.
Finally, Friday comes closer knocking on my door. I am waiting for the humanistic studies. For your information, sometimes I just get stunned for my lecture explanation and realize what I already know is only a few such atom. Sometimes, I also get embarrassed when I can not argue for the sake of my own belief, like I only swallow anything for granted. I hope I can learn well, study well and argue well.
